Renowned ophthalmologist J Agarwal passed away after a brief illness late on Sunday night at his residence here, his family said.
Dr J Agarwal (79), founder of the Agarwal group of eye hospitals, recipient of India's high civilian honour Padma Bhushan, is survived by his son Dr Amar Agarwal, who is also an eye doctor.Dr Agarwal had donated his eyes and they were transplanted on two persons by Dr Amar Agarwal.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi called on the bereaved family and placed a wreath.
