This steps gives general advice on how to use most eye drops. However, you may be given specific instructions which may vary from the advice below. Ask your pharmacist if you have any queries.
- Wash your hands
- Take off the top of the bottle.
- Lie down & look at the ceeling (Bend your head backwards) or sit down and tilt your head back
- Pull down your lower eye lid with the index finger making a pocket
- Look up & squeeze a drop into the pocket,do not blink or wipe the eye.
- Press with your finger on the index cortex of the eye. this will keep the mediator in the eye longer, before it drains into your nose
- do not touch the bottle to your eye,finger or face
- Close the eye for 2 minutes,a second drop can be put after that if needed.
