Instructions for Discharged Patients

This steps gives general advice on how to use most eye drops. However, you may be given specific instructions which may vary from the advice below. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you have any queries.
DO’S
  • The outer areas of eye has to be cleaned using cotton soaked in hot water(after it is cooled)
  • The hands must be washed thoroughly
  • Medicines are to be used only to the operated eye alone
  • 1 drop of medicine must be instilled in to the eye.
  • 1 hour gap is need between the medicines
  • The eye has to be closed for sometimes after instilling the drops
  • The eye may become reddish or watery for 3 weeks and there is no need to panic
  • After going home, body wash can be done, hair wash can be done after 15 or 30 And shampoos and soaps can be used
  • There is no diet restriction
  • Men can be have shave after 3 days
DON’T’S
  • Do not have bath in rivers & ponds
  • Do not visit dusty areas for 4 weeks
  • Do not use cigarettes. beetle leaves and pan for a month
  • Do not rub your eyes and don’t wipe the operated eye with any cloth
