Sutton to make decision on future

Aston Villa's Chris Sutton will decide within the next 10 days whether to quit football because of an eye problem.

The former Celtic and Blackburn striker, 33, has been out since suffering blurred vision in December's home game against Manchester United.

Sutton has visited several specialists but there has been no improvement, and Villa boss O'Neill said: "Chris has got another specialist to see.

"He will make his mind up about things after that, within the next 10 days."

Sutton signed for Villa from Birmingham in the summer on a one-year deal, and had just started to make a meaningful contribution before the setback against United.

But O'Neill explained: "Chris has got a genuine concern.

"His concern is that no-one can give him any guarantees about what might be the consequences if he got cracked on the head again.

"Whatever eyesight Chris has now, he would obviously want to keep, so he must bear that in mind when deciding his whole future and career."
